Walks
There is some amazing countryside around Chester… here are some suggestions:
- North Wales: there is plenty of walking nearby ranging from proper mountains to more gentle valleys and woodlands;
- Sandstone trail: this is a 55-kilometre long-distance walkers’ path, following sandstone ridges running north to south from Frodsham to Whitchurch just over the Shropshire border. We would suggest for a leisurely day out to do the Frodsham (17-20 minute direct train ride) to Delamere (17 minute direct train ride) stretch (about 11 Km) and spend a bit of time in Delamere Forest. If you want to walk further there are lovely round trips from Frodsham incoproating part of the Trail (e.g. this 13 mile walk).
